Intel India Student Research Contest
(IISCRC) 2005-06 was
launched in July 2005 and its 2nd stage saw the selection of
121 students from 25 institutes for the Poster presentation.
The participating teams converged at Intel India, Bangalore on
Nov 17th & 18th 2005 for the Poster Presentation round of
the research contest.
21 teams with 38 students were selected from the Poster
Presentation phase and results were declared in Jan 2006. Out
of the selected teams, two teams opted to dropout from the
contest due to unavoidable circumstances. This resulted in
selection of two waitlisted teams as replacement for the teams
that opted out of the contest.
Selected teams paired with an Intel technical advisor are
given time to work on the project and to present the same at
the Project Presentation in May 2006. Students have started
interactions with their respective mentors for getting more
clarity on the research project and for expert suggestions. For Results,

Intel + UC Berkeley
Technology Entrepreneurship
Intel and the University of California, Berkeley have joined
forces to boost entrepreneurial know-how in emerging
technology hotbeds around the world with a new curriculum
development program for entrepreneurship faculty.
Not all countries have adopted entrepreneurship as a means of
growing their markets and creating jobs. Today, by and large,
many educational systems are geared toward creating employees,
not entrepreneurs. To change this dynamic, the core curriculum
at universities should add basic instruction in what it takes
to start and operate a company, including training in
formulating a strategy, writing a business plan, marketing,
finance and raising capital.
Curriculum on entrepreneurship and its importance will be
taught by faculty from the Lester Center for Entrepreneurship
and Innovation at UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business, which
is recognized as a leader in entrepreneurship education and
research.
The 2-day workshop is scheduled for 29th and 30th March 2006
at Hotel Grand Hyatt, Mumbai. The program is being held in
India along with other venues - Brazil, China, Mexico and
Russia. Attending the program will be 20 - 25 faculty members
from several colleges and universities in these regions.
Entrepreneurship CDW will provide a framework and curriculum
that college faculty can adapt to their local situations. The
program will offer a teaching curriculum, classroom exercises,
and other tools for university professors to teach the basics
of entrepreneurship to engineers and scientists, creating
innovative business people with cross-disciplinary skills,
technical expertise, and the ability to seize market
opportunities. Faculties attending the program are encouraged
to share with faculty at other schools how they apply their
newly gained knowledge.
